Sedum acre (Gold Moss), a low-growing, mat-forming, evergreen succulent perennial, is a very hardy and drought-tolerant plant. Adorned with conical, bright green leaves, its tangled stems form a cheerful groundcover. Throughout the summer, small clusters of tiny, star-shaped, bright yellow flowers with protruding stamens bloom just above the foliage.

Vigorous in nature, Sedum acre spreads quickly and is an excellent choice for spilling over rock walls and cascading from containers. It can also serve as a possible lawn substitute with minimal foot traffic. Thriving in sunny areas with poor, dry soil, this succulent performs best in full sun, in poor to moderately fertile, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils.

Capable of thriving in shallow, rocky, limestone to sandstone soil, Sedum acre requires occasional watering once established. It is essential to protect the plant from excessive winter wet to ensure its hardiness.

For indoor sowing, the process should be carried out 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost date. Small pots or flats and a sterile starter mix should be utilized, with the starter mix pre-moistened and 5 to 7 Stonecrop seeds sown per container.

The optimal time for planting is 6 to 8 weeks before the last spring frost date. Sedum acre grows up to 3 inches (7 cm) tall and 12 to 24 inches (30 to 60 cm) wide, making it a perfect choice for rock gardens, containers, groundcover, or edging.
