This Chlorotica complex variant, a hard-to-find variation, features tan/brown spines that are less brittle and more prevalent than the regular Santa Rita/O. Goss. It can only be found in a few very southern portions of Arizona, primarily growing in Mexico. I have a very limited supply and will not be offering any more until next spring. The 3-5" live pad cutting you will receive will be non-rooted. The last photo is an example of the cutting. Once established, this plant requires little to no care. It can grow up to 6 feet tall and is winter hardy to zero degrees. The blooms are yellow to yellow with a red center, appearing in early spring. This plant is great for landscaping or as a potted indoor plant, and it turns purple when cold or kept distressed.
This item is easier to grow and matures faster than seeds. It can be grown outdoors or as an indoor houseplant. Your 3-5" cutting (non-rooted) will be similar to the last photo, but the color and shape may vary. Tongs and protective wear should be used whenever handling cacti and other desert plants.
