This compact, glowingly beautiful Agave forms a rosette only 1-2' high by 2-3' wide, making it one of the most stunning specimens around. Each leaf is framed by a showy ridge of shark's-tooth-esque spines that can vary in color from white to near-black mahogany, lending it a truly jewel-like appearance both day and night. It's the perfect addition to any sunny, low-water garden or large container. Once fully mature, the rosette will produce a single flower spike encrusted with yellow blooms that are irresistible to bees and hummingbirds - be sure to allow the spent stalk to remain long enough to reseed for future generations. While the flowering plant itself will ultimately die, any offsets will continue to thrive. Grown from seed, the coloration may vary.

Hardiness-wise, these hardy, sun-loving succulents can withstand temperatures as low as 20°F (-7°C). Although the plant prefers full sun, it can also do well in light to partial shade conditions.

To grow your own from seed, simply scatter the agave seeds across the surface of a potting mix, taking care not to cover them too heavily (a light dusting of fine sand is fine). Cover the planting container with plastic wrap or seal it inside a plastic bag, then place it in a warm area with bright, indirect sunlight. Self-seeding is a delight, allowing you to watch your Agave colony grow alongside your family over time.
