Corsican Stonecrop (4 inch)

Corsican Stonecrop or Blue Tears Sedum, also known as Sedum Dasyphyllum Major, is a quick-to-grow evergreen succulent that serves as an excellent low-water lawn substitute. This little ground cover sedum features adorable blue-green foliage with long branching stems and tiny round leaves. At maturity, it can reach 6" high and 15" across, and from summer to fall, clusters of delicate star-shaped white flowers will bloom.

The creeping selections of Stonecrop are excellent groundcover plants, particularly for hot, dry sites. This species forms a low carpet of tiny round powdery blue-grey leaves, remaining evergreen in mild regions. Clusters of white star flowers appear in early summer, and the plant can take on a mauve cast during cool weather.

Sedum Dasyphyllum Major can withstand light foot traffic, making it an ideal choice for areas where a traditional lawn is not practical. You can trim it back to create a dense mat, and the trimmings can be left to root and grow into new plants. This fast grower is best kept away from slower alpine plants, and it can be mowed or clipped back in spring if desired.
